Sometimes your trip may only be as good as the gear you bring (comfort, ease of use). Other times, your safety depends on your gear (bad weather, warmth). When researching which gear will be best for you, consider the following factors: weather, temperature, elevation, number of nights, total miles, and sources for water. To assist you in your research, we’ve provided information below including our own list of recommended gear, where to find the best gear reviews, and the best places to shop.

Best Gear Reviews

Backcountry, Eastern Mountain Sports (EMS), Moosejaw, and Recreational Equipment Inc (REI), are all reputable online outdoor gear sellers. Each of them routinely have sales throughout the year, so keep an eye out for those to save up to 20% off.
