Kanarra Creek Falls
Kanarraville, Utah
Located about an hour outside of Zion National Park (our guide to the best day hikes in Zion can be found HERE), this place is like the mini version of the well known Narrows hike in Zion, except that it's a slot canyon and has multiple beautiful waterfalls you can actually climb up and over to get to the next. It's a great smaller alternative if the Narrows in Zion is closed. 150 hikers are allowed by permit per day and each permit includes parking at the trailhead. You can obtain your permit in advance HERE. The hike is about 3.5 miles round trip. The first part of the hike is on a dirt path and it eventually crosses a stream multiple times until finally you'll be walking in the water for the remainder of the hike in a slot canyon. If you do climb both ladders over the two waterfalls, you will eventually reach a dirt path again and while the views there are still great, they will not be as breathtaking at the waterfalls you’ve already passed.
General Travel Tips
Water shoes you can hike in are a must.
Depending on the time the year, the water can be freezing.
Be careful when climbing up the ladders. At the time of this writing, the second ladder was down.
To get there, enter this address into your GPS: 345 E 100 N St, Kanarraville, UT 84742. You will see the dirt parking lot on your left.
Go during the middle of the week as the lines for the ladders to get up and over the waterfalls (there's only one ladder per waterfall you can use) can be quite long on a busy weekend.
